Dear friends near and far,
Om! Aah Na Bhadraha, Krutva Bhaavayet Sadaa, Let noble thoughts come to us from every side. [ RK Veda]
For with thee [is] the fountain of life In Lumine Tuo Videbimus Lumen. In Thy Light we see the light [ Part of Psalm 36.9]
Om! Sat Ekam, Bahuda Vipraha Vadanti. This is part of longer precept: Truth is one. The wise describe it in various ways." Rk.Veda.
Please let us reason together to find common ground that can support mutually responsive alliances that can begin the healing sooner than later. This is follow up message I am sharing to address the terribly agonizing and heartbreaking incomprehensible events that has overtaken Israel and Gaza since the Hamas indiscriminately perpetrated this horror in most cruel and atrocious attacks that were videotaped and shared, the brutal inhumanity and barbarism that has not been witnessed since the days of the SS operations coordinated and implemented after the Wannsee conference in Jan 1942 under Heinrich Himmler, Reinhard Heydrich Adolf Eichmann during the III Reich to accomplish their goals under the Final Solution of Jewish Question. The perpetrators of the current barbarism by the Hamas leadership who seek the elimination of the Jewish State appear to be emulating the utter barbarism inflicted on human beings only because they were Jewish. [Recently released photos of two burned babies and a blood-stained baby]- I can do more than grieve and weep. I can gather facts and share my heartfelt condolences and resources to help all those seeking to ameliorate the terrible terror and anguish, inconsolable grief and debilitating bereavement. As part of this effort, I read the APA response and totally endorse this statement: We mourn those who were lost and call for the immediate return of all hostages to their families. The scale of this terrorist act and the harm it is causing is unfathomable. I have an important concern I have not heard any religious services being offered even when the sadly recovered dead bodies of the Jewish settlers were recovered. This is such important step to begin the process of restorative healing of tragically bereaved and the souls of the martyred Israelis. I have not read of any ceremonies such Shivah and Mourning, Kaddish and Memorial being performed as soon as possible by the end the day. I trust these critical functions were conducted with solemnity and grace that has beneficial influences at many levels. All the resources the APA and I am sharing can be more easily accepted if the necessary religious and spiritual traditions established thousands of years ago and performed for generations diligently by families [for good reasons] in their narratives. Disruptions of these traditions Must be Minimized for accruing optimum recovery trajectories of our Jewish brothers and sisters.
This report in Atlantic [ Hamas’s Genocidal Intentions Were Never a Secret - The Atlantic] elucidates the genocidal intentions of the Hamas. This is going to be a long difficult arduous struggle for survival, and we must address not only the military and security priorities but address in real time the challenges faced by the people of Israel who are experiencing the effects of sudden loss of families and trauma at many different levels. I would like to share these resources that my teams, patients, their families and I have found to accrue beneficial outcomes in the near term and over the long haul.[ Care givers must be committed to self-compassion and self-care to successful engage and assist with reparative, restorative and revitalization efforts especially when there is need for long term commitment to those who are living under dire circumstances with traumatizing visual imagery and screaming sirens and with mobilization of large percentage of their fellow citizens.
I am very glad the APA issued this Historic landmark statement on Oct 11, 2023, Psychiatry.org - American Psychiatric Association Statement on Terrorist Attacks in Israel which not only expresses our responses as the Oldest Medical organization in the USA and for providing these resources: “For those directly impacted, and for those deeply impacted around the world, know that these horrifying events may affect your mental health. Resources are available at: https://www.psychiatry.org/patients-families/coping-after-disaster-trauma.”
These resources have been helpful to staff, patients and their families in various circumstances that deeply distressing responses.

Besides extensive resources included that can address the multi factorial challenges that must be addressed and ameliorated by patients and families through collaborative work towards specific goals that will restore their capacity to function as optimally as possible over time I offer diagrams used by County Based Health Rankings and Roadmaps (Figure 1) shows the interaction between health outcomes, the SDoH, and policies and programs.
Humility and grace can enhance our chances of achieving our objectives while trudging on our personal path to experience liberation and enlightenment in our daily life not co-terminously with our lives but contemporaneously while being mindful of how we are carrying out our responsibilities to our family and community around us and are responding empathically and diligently in some of the most difficult circumstances where everything you hold dear including your commitment to your personal values and respect for the values of person’s you are engaged with is on the line.
We could all be sharing our lives in a more just and equitable world when we become cognizant of and acknowledge the Truth of our common Humanity across the world. "…In Lumine Tuo Videbimus Lumen. In Thy Light we see the light" [ Part of Psalm 36.9] This incidentally is the Motto of Columbia University. NYC, NY
This evocative heartfelt prayer of gratitude I found to be restorative and reaffirming.
